The major settlement in New Spain, near Vera Cruz, protected by a fort on the nearby island of Gallega.
14/9/1568 - John Hawkins visits the town and is mistaken for the New Spain fleet, so the nobles come out to visit his fleet and are captured. Hawkins invests the town in preparation for the silver mule train from Vera Cruz, but the New Spain fleet turns up. The two forces engaged in combat with Hawkins escaping in his last ship the Minion.
