A major town on the northern shores of Panama. Once Nombre Dios was destroyed, it became the destination for the treasure fleets and mule trains. The town was rebuilt further inland and protected by numerous forts. Protected by the Castle of San Felipe at the harbour mouth. Castle of Santiago further uprive, with a village called Triana nearby. Just before reaching the town is the Casas Reales. Two forts on the water front are San Iago and El Oriental.
1594 - After the destruction of Nombre Dios, the town became the stopover for the Treasure Fleet.
7/2/1602 - Attacked by Parker. Opposite the Casas Reales was stationed a number of musketmen with 2 bronze cannon. Governor Pedrez took a force of 60 men to hold a bridge to keep Parker out, but were forced to retreat. He was later captured.
