Eureka's
25mm Victoriana Civilians
Refer also to the Pax Limpopo Range. 18th June 2005
- Victorian Civilians - Man, Woman,
boy with hoop, girl with teddy.
- Victorian Civilians 2 - This is
the second civilian family set from Eureka. It consists of a well to do middle
aged couple with 5yr old children. They all have cast on base. The gent is
dressed in a long tailed coat, waist coat, shirt, top hat, trousers and shoes.
He stands casually leaning on a cane in his right hand, left hand behind his
back. He is suitably English and quite the gent. Casting and sculpting good.
Eye height 28mm
The lady is pretty haughty looking. She wears a simple unadorned dress with
waistcoat and puffy sleeves. She stands, or probably is walking slowly, with
right hand on her stomach, left arm held down. Her long hair is piled up onto
her head. Casting and sculpting good. Eye height 29mm
The little girl looks a bit like Madeline, same basic outfit and hat. Eye
height 21mm. Her face is maybe a little bit too rounded and her slowly walking
forward pose maybe a little stilted, but she's by no means bad. I'm just trying
to be a little bit fussy.
The boy is a little larakin strolling happily along. He's taking big steps,
and looks a little off to the left with wide open mouth. He wears coat, shirt,
shorts, shoes and beret. He's a cute little figure with a larger than life
personality. Eye height 19mm
- Hansom Cab - 2 seater, one horse,
one driver, male and female passenger shown below, which are part of the set.
Assembled pic
- (100TRN02) - The passengers for the
above are a well to do lady and gent. The gent looks abit like Colonel Sanders
of KFC fame, and sits resting his hands on a vertical cane. His attire is
a plain coat, trousers and boots. The lady sits wearing a coat, and ankle
length dress. She wears a ladies broad rimmed hat, with cloth tails falling
down to her shoulders. Her hands are on her lap in a hand warmer. The figures
are smallish, more like fine 25's, but they need to be to fit in the hansom
cab. The detail on them, particularly the ladies face and upper dress, is
a little muddy but considering they will be inside a rather tight space and
hard to see, it's not a great tragedy.
- Alternative set of cab drivers. These
are cutsie little Disney toonish style guys. They are fat little balls basically,
18mm high, with tiny pudgy arms and legs, and a head with huge chin, heavy
moustache and sideburns, and a tiny head with tiny top hat. They wear long
pants, tiny pointed shoes, jacket, waist coat and shirt. They are both the
same pose, one standing on the ground, the other sitting as though to fit
on the cab's driver seat but there isn't a chance he will. Maybe he sits on
the roof. Their right arm is held out and down, the left arm held cocked at
the side holding a 7' long drivers whip, which is a separate piece sitting
in a hole in the left hand.
- Colonial Soldiers - essentially
the same as the Limpopo figures, but to a different scale and not as bulky.
It looks as though they may have been made to suit previous Ral Partha figures.
Four poses are kneeling receiving (no bayonet), advancing rifle horizontal,
advancing rifle at port, standing firing. Their accessories are water bottle,
ammunition pouch and bayonet scabbard. No flaws. Figure height 25mm
- 'Mr Hyde' is an evil looking character,
imagine a stocky Mr Hyde type with a Batman "Joker" type face with
a big grin. He wears a knee length coat, trousers, boots and top hat. He stands
body facing forward, right arm lifting drawing a needle thin sword from its
scabbard which is held down by his left hand. The right hand and part of the
sword are cast as a separate piece. The head is turned and facing over the
right shoulder, probably just abit further than would be physically comfortable.
Eye height 28mm, with a cast on base.
- 18-19th Century plantation peasants 1 Male
(4) One stands with pole, one walking with separate cargo bundle
on head, one carrying wood bundle slung over back and one carrying two sacks
slung over shoulder
- 18-19th Century plantation peasants 2 Female
(5) One standing leaning on separate shovel, two variants hoeing
the ground, two varaints carrying covered basket of items on head
- Saloon girl (can can) - (1)
Here is a simply delightful lady in a saloon dancer pose, right leg lifted
slightly to shake her ruffled petticoats at the crowd to reveal her short
boots and abit of leg. Her dress is low cut with the straps low on the arm.
Her hair is raised in a bun on top of her head. Her face is nicely done. Sculpting
and animation are simply wonderful. She has a cast on small round base.
- Saloon Girl (indian theme)
- 1 variant
- Saloom Girl indian theme leaning on
lamp post - 1 variant
- Saloon girl bathing in iron bath with
rubber ducky (missing) - 1 variant
- Victorian police There are two police
variants, though more are likely. Number one is walking slowly along, arms
swinging out wide, wearing a regular uniform with bobby's hat. Facially he
reminds me a bit of Prince Charles. Number 2 is more of a caricature, strolling
along in a bouncy comical happy way. He's a bit more robust than the other
guy, and taller. He has a chirpy but dumb comic English bobbies face. His
arms are swinging bout with pinache. Overall quite nice, but if you want strict
realism, maybe not spot on. Certainly they are not too caricature for regular
guys to game with. They have nice character. Casting and sculpting good. Eye
height 27mm & 30mm
- Thugs There are two thug variants,
the first stands legs apart, arms held out to each side. He wears trousers
and a coat probably just a little too tight. He wears a little cap. In his
right hand is a stick of rough timber, cast separate, which fits in a hole
in his hand. Number two is a caricature strongman, with an exaggerate head
with large jaws. He wears trousers and coat and little bowler hat. He stands
right arm down, left hand holding a large wooden club, which he holds resting
across his shoulders/back. He's dragging on a cigarette. I imagine him as
a cartoon strongman called Moose. Eye height 27mm

- Victorian Dancers (10) Here we have five
couples (27mm) to suit a Victorian era ball. Four of the pairs come in two
halves, three sets of which are interchangeable. They do not have/need bases.
From the picture, the left hand man and the centre woman are the odd pair
who are not interchangeable. The figures attach just below the womans left
shoulder and the mans left wrist, with a small recess in the woman's skirt
at ground level to accomodate the man's foot. The ladies are all very fine
boned, though 2 might be a bit more middle aged looking. They all wear long
skirts and have their long hair tied up. There is no expanse of cleavage or
even ankles, so Jeremy should be OK with these fgures. Two hold up a hem of
thier dress in their right hand, and there is something not 100% ok about
the shape the flowing back down makes, but it is acceptable. The men all wear
long tailed coats and only one shows a little weight. He is also bald and
might well pass for a Sgt Major. The one piece pair is an officer with a Colonel
Sanders look. One oddity is the belt he wears, which only appars at his back
and appears to make no dint on his starched coat's shape. Picky hey :P
- 100MISC03 Grenadier guard with an
electric discharge rifle and lightning shaped bayonet. 28mm eye height grenadier
guard with bearskin hat. Rifle is held horizontal at stomach level. Looks
good and might have some use in another *TM* game or in Pax Limpopo to take
care of the pesky dinosaurs
- Naval Landing Party What I assume from
my scant knowledge is a late Victorian era crew. Eye height 24mm, 4 variants.
Officer in coat, trousers, long boats and peaked cap. He stands left foot
forward, separate sword hand (right) and his left hand is coked up at 45 degrees
with a pistol. He has a scabbard and 2 pouches on his belt, and being a good
seaman, he has a short beard. He commands three troopers, all very similar
in style. They wear broad rimmed hats, jacket, pants and boots with gaiters
, plus the sailors shoulder coverlet, of which the technical term I can't
think of. They wear a bandolier chock full of bullets across the chest and
belt. On their belts hang a bayonet and a bum bag. The rifle they hold looks
a bit like a Winchester. Poses are standing firing, kneeling loading (separate
with rifle) and standing loading (separate hand and rifle). The loading men
are drawing a bullet form their chesty bandolier while the left hand is at
waist height holding the rifle up at 45 degrees. They all have the short seaman's
beard. Sculpting and casting is neat.
