Eureka's
25mm Animals & Monsters
11th December 2004
- Ants (2) Variant 1- 12mm long, 9mm wide, 4mm high
Variant 2 (2 pieces)- 18mm long, 22mm wide, 8mm high. Variant 1 is a one
piece casting without feelers. The legs are solid sections like solid V's
attached to the body due to casting restrictions. Variant 2 is in two pieces,
legs as one piece, and body as another. My sample was miscast with only 5
legs. The ant has two fine feelers, one of mine broke off, and I will remove
the other now before it happens on the gaming table. The body fits easily
on the legs, and the legs are abit reposeable to make a bit of variation.
Detailing is relatively simple, perhaps the mandibles could have been more
pronounced, but the figures do the desired job just fine. They have no base.
- Ant - giant - from the Fantozy
range. The ant is 85mm long, 115mm wide and 50mm high. He comes in 8 parts,
main body, 6 legs, and head. As an ant he is quite good, with a waspish thorax.
He has two holes in the head for antennae supplied by you.
- ANM01 Chimpanzees Here we have 4 chimps,
all hunched over walking on fours. Three are the same base body and 3 legs,
the variation being the left arm in a different position and the head turned
differently. One also has a baby clinging on it's back. The fourth is standing
on three legs, the right arm lifted below it. The casting and sculpting is
fine.
- Dog - a small Collie type of
dog in pointing pose. Intended as part of a raptor herding game yet to be
released. No flaws. Figure height 14mm
- 100ANM03 Elk -
- 100ANM04 Horses Walking (4) Two
walking, one standing, one standing grazing. 23mm to shoulder. Looking almost
like Australian hack horses to me :P
- 100ANM05 Horses Running (4) and Horses
Running 2 (all in same pack)
- Mary Shelley's Monster (33mm) Static lurching
pose, very simply adorned. No real faults.
- Morkoth - 1950's B Grade Horror monster, akin
to the creature from the black swamp, but they certainly also seem spot on
as a jungle monster to go along with the Pax Limpopo pygmies. The first stands
legs well apart, right arm held down, left arm held up. His legs, and top
surfaces of arms and shoulders is covered in weed/shaggy fur. He has a shaggy
hair, akin to a couple palm leaves. He has big triangular teeth. He wears
a rather decrepit loin cloth. His belly is paunchy and smooth. He has three
toed clawed feet, and has five fingered hands with longish nails. He has no
base. Casting and sculpting good, the intent of the design is clear and will
paint very easily.
- Penguin Trying to fly , with attached
baloon. Here is a rather cute little penguin leaning back on one leg, wings
outstretched trying to fly. There is a collar around his under arms with a
dimple in it. Into the dimple sits a separate small balloon with string line.
Eye height 18mm. Cute, and a test sample for more penguins to come.
- Raptor Pack. This set
comes with 2 stands of 3 raptors which sit side side by side on a double slotted
metal 'cavalry base'. These are not velociraptors like Jurassic park, but
smaller sleeker raptors. They are roughly 16mm high and each raptor is about
48mm long. The three raptors per stand are sculpted as a unit, and if you
slide one forward, and one back on the slots, they go together reasonably
well. My preference is to use each stand seperately. The figures are nicely
fluid and as a trio look like they are inquisitivley advancing looking for
prey.
